Senior Associate Scientist

Your Role:

As a Senior Associate Scientist (SAS) within the Molecular Development Services (MDS) team in our Rockville, Maryland facility, you would work in a group-based environment to perform laboratory testing for custom and internal projects, including assay development and validation. You will be expected to make scientific observations related to test data, maintain detailed workbooks, and ensure that documentation fulfils accepted professional and industry standards. Additionally, you will maintain a thorough understanding of services, technical principles, and applications as they apply to your position. Other job responsibilities include:

Perform all routine and relevant laboratory techniques in compliance with regulatory standards Perform a wide variety of routine or custom tasks to support GLP/GMPassay development Perform assays required to characterize product Perform a wide range of laboratory techniques, including conventional, real-time & digital PCR, nucleic acid extraction, capillary & gel electrophoresis, sanger-based sequencing, gene expression analysis, blotting & probing, cloning, arrays, next generation sequencing, and mirco/nano fluidics, and gain experience using standard molecular automation for nucleic acid extraction and liquid handling. Make scientific observations, maintain detailed workbooks or documentation, and ensure all documentation fulfils accepted professional or industry standards Train junior members of staff and drive quality improvement Perform laboratory housekeeping, preparation of reagents, inventory management and general equipment maintenance.


Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:


PhD in a Biological Sciences discipline (i.e. Molecular Biology, Microbiology, etc.)


- OR -


Master's degree in a Biological Sciences discipline (i.e. Molecular Biology, Microbiology, etc.) 1+years' experience in a GLP/GMP laboratory or related environment


- OR -


Bachelor's degree in a Biological Sciences discipline (i.e. Molecular Biology, Microbiology, etc.) 5+years' experience in a GLP/GMP laboratory or related environment


Preferred Qualifications:
Good technical knowledge and problem-solving skills Knowledge of GLP/cGMPs and relevant regulatory guidelines Experience with bio/pharmaceutical equipment / systems Experience conducting custom contract testing in accordance with defined proposals or statements of work Experience with Microsoft Office and database management systems Ability to work well under minimal supervision and in a team environment Working knowledge of lab policies and assays to conduct a wide range of laboratory methods Ability to organize workload efficiently to complete tasks effectively
