Engineering Specialist

About Us


AIChE is a professional society of more than 60,000 chemical engineers in 110 countries. Its members work in corporations, universities and government, using their knowledge of chemical and biological processes to develop safe and useful products for the benefit of society. We support key industry needs in a variety of technology by creating professional communities in areas related to chemical and biological engineering; identification of gaps and barriers in implementation of technology, and identification of needed research to support the technology domains including chemical process development, biological engineering, bioprocessing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, process intensification, process development, materials research and nano-technology.


Responsibilities


Under the direction of the Manager of Technical Entities, the Engineering Specialist will support AIChE’s efforts in supporting the development and growth of communities, associated conferences, and educational materials for members including the new Center for Biosecurity and Bioethics, and Institute for Food Innovation and Technology.


Work with top scientists and engineers in both industry and academia to develop and implement impactful and engaging conferences and workshops Work closely with sales and marketing specialists to drive marketing initiatives, registrations and sponsors for events Develop and deploy monthly webinars for technical seminars with experts in academia or industry Develop monthly newsletters containing industry, technical and societal news Manage and update website, conference sites and other administrative duties Lead efforts to retain and attract new members in areas of energy, sustainability, bioethics, food processing and bioengineering Manage databases and analyze membership trends Assist in the research and development of new projects and services Provide accounting and budget oversight for projects Travel to conferences will be required

Display excellent communication skills including: writing and proof-reading, and verbal skills Focus on meeting project expectations by providing timely updates and being proactive; good customer service Motivated to take actions within your purview that advance the project, provide better internal or external service and/or positively adds to the project Capability for effectively working with individuals and groups at all levels, building and sustaining relationships and acting as a team player Ability to analyze data and organize in an engaging and informative presentation

Educational & Work Experience Requirements


Minimum BS degree — Chemical Engineering or Bioengineering preferred, Business degree is welcome Minimum of 3+ years’ experience; non-profit experience a plus
