The UW Finance Transformation Program (UWFT) is a $270M initiative to replace the University’s financial systems with an integrated Workday cloud-based system to manage the full suite of financial transactions and reporting needs in the UW system – to include academic, administrative, and healthcare. UWFT will fundamentally change the processes and tools that the University employs to track, spend, collect, manage, and report University finances in excess of $7B in annual revenues, resulting in more timely and actionable information for leadership. Among the UW’s highest administrative priorities, this multi-year initiative is one of the largest finance system projects in Washington State and the outcome of the program will be highly visible at all levels of the University and the state.
UWFT has excellent opportunities for Training Developers. This recruitment will fill multiple openings.
The Training Developer is a member of the Organizational Change Management team, reporting to the Training Lead. With the implementation of a new financial system, and associated business processes, the UW is fundamentally changing the way business operates across the enterprise, to include academic, research, healthcare and administrative units. This position will develop training courses that will ensure impacted central business units, shared services units, and end users are well informed about the end-to-end business process, and how to complete complex transactions in the system.
This position will be expected to:
Quickly develop expertise in system capabilities and business processes in order to lead the development of the relevant training content that ensures end users can functionally utilize the system and execute processes
Interact with various stakeholders in both the Academy and Medicine to understand business requirements, identify information gaps and calibrate appropriate training content
Develop training modules assigned using structured methodology and agreed-upon modality (e-learning, written participant guides and job aids, training videos, etc.)
Coordinate with offshore training developers
Manage high-volume workloads by multi-tasking, coordinating with peers and communicating with customers as required
Meet all internal and external deadlines, according to agreed-upon project plans and timelines
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Training Development
Develop course deliverables such as classroom slides, instructors facilitation guides, training guides, procedural documentation, e-learning courses, nano-learning courses, classroom exercises, in-system help text, etc.
Develop learning activities within the courses such as exercises, knowledge-checks, system demos, etc. that harness creative and innovative approaches and formats
Coordinate development and review activities with offshore training development team
Lead training deliverable review sessions with FT team members and external stakeholders (as required)
Participate in testing of training materials before delivery, such as testing e-learning course uploads on the UW Learning Management System (LMS), as needed
Participate in activities that evaluate training effectiveness after delivery, as needed
Instructional Design
Support the development of training design deliverables such as detailed course outlines, storyboards, facilitator scripts, e-learning course narration scripts, etc.
Training Delivery Support
Support the delivery of Train-the-Trainer sessions including delivering content
Support the delivery of instructor-led classes including responding to both instructor and learner inquiries
Provide quality assurance and troubleshoot technical delivery issues
Project Management
Track progress of deliverables and report to Training Lead and OCM Pillar Lead
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, education or related field or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 3 years experience in training development using content tools such as Articulate 360, Captivate, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
DESIRED:
Experience developing training for a software implementation project, preferably Workday or a similar cloud-based ERP platform
Experience within higher education or medical center environment.
Experience managing courses and content in an LMS, such as Bridge or SumTotal.
Experience with agile training development methods
Experience as a trainer or facilitator

Work in an open office environment and contribute to collaborative team work focused on problem-solving. Daily interactions with other team members, subject matter experts and stakeholders at all levels of the organization. While the general working hours are within Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., this position will, on occasion, need to adjust hours to accommodate the business needs and deadlines.
