Postdoctoral Research Associate

What You Will Do

A position is available at the Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies (CINT) at Los Alamos National Laboratory for a highly talented and motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in solution-based nanolithography techniques. A key aim of the research will be to discover, develop, and implement nanolithography techniques for fabrication of light-emitting nanomaterials as robust single-photon light sources. As such, the successful candidate will have experience with solution-based nanolithography techniques such as dip-pen lithography, polymer-pen lithography, and/or nanopipette-based deposition. Background experience with scanning probe microscopy techniques as well as the optical characterization of nanomaterials is further desirable. Candidates should be able to adapt, optimize or devise new lithography protocols for targeted deposition of optically active nanomaterials. The selected postdoc will have the opportunity to engage with a dynamic, multidisciplinary experimental and theoretical research team that bridges fundamental science with application and results-oriented device development and integration. In particular, candidates will help to develop a scanning probe microscopy system and nanopipettes to deterministically deposit individual quantum emitters at target locations within single-photon emission devices.

The successful candidate will be expected to:
Conduct research to develop atomic force microscope based nanodeposition/nanolithography techniques. Work with team members to implement optical microscopy techniques to characterize the emission properties of single quantum emitter systems. Communicate research results through reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.
The CINT has a history of ground-breaking achievements in the development and characterization of quantum nanomaterials. You will have the opportunity to work with a number of internationally recognized experts in the fabrication and characterization of single photon emission devices.
