Applications Specialist - Microanalysis

Overview: The Application Specialist role within Bruker Nano Analytics responsibilities include assisting customers by providing technical support, demonstrate microanalysis instruments, conduct equipment demonstrations, and technical feasibility studies. This position requires close communication with sales, marketing, and product manager's to support existing and new customer applications. The main microanalysis equipment that would be supported in this position includes EDS, EBSD, WDS, and uXRF. Responsibilities: Demonstrate and explain the operation of the Bruker Nano Analytics Electron Microscope Analyzers pre-sales Prepare technical sales arguments and materials Demonstration of the equipment at Bruker, Customers, and SEM company sites Virtual demonstrations with sales representatives to end customers Provide answers to technical inquires Analysis of customer samples and preparation of detailed reports Present technical presentations to customers and partners at technical meetings Prepare application notes and white papers Manage incoming sample requests After sales customer support Provide advanced user training at Bruker and customer sites Produce and maintain appropriate materials for customer and sales training E-mail and phone support for operational and technical questions regarding Microanalysis Products Representing Bruker at local conferences and presenting scientific presentations Works closely with Product Management and R&D team to help develop and release new products, applications, and solutions. Qualifications: Core competencies Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Ability to interact and communicate with all levels of individuals, both inside and outside the company, in a professional manner Specific job tasks must be performed safely and satisfactorily Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively Education Minimum: Bachelors degree in Physical Science discipline Masters or PhD in Chemistry, Physics, or Materials Science preferred Experience 2 years SEM/microanalysis experience including sample preparation EBSD analysis experience WDS and uXRF experience preferred Skills Strong communication and presentation skills required Ability to teach microanalysis technique and software operation Proficient with Microsoft Office is expected Basic laboratory and sample preparation skills Language: English fluent Equipment to be used Electron Microscope EDS, WDS, EBSD, and Micro XRF (on-SEM column) Other requirements Involves up to 40% travel, primarily in North America This position will be based in Madison, WI USA
