Photonics Engineer

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PHOTONICS ENGINEER


Our Photonics Engineer plays an essential role on our optical device development and integration team! You work on the design and manufacturing of silicon and other types of on-chip photonic components. Utilizing your robust education and expertise, you enjoy helping with the development of fabrication processes and the implementation of those processes through a foundry or contract manufacturer. To ensure proper performance, you also help with testing and characterization of the resulting components. When design plans are complete, you also lead, generate, and conduct formal verification and validation. Finally, you also conduct technical design reviews with the project team and other experts across the company. At the end of the day, you enjoy flexing your mechanical and creative muscles while working with our high-functioning team!



REQUIREMENTS


Completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering, materials science and engineering, physics, or a related field Previous experience in design, fabrication, and/or characterization of fiber-chip couplers and on-chip optical devices such as microresonators, lasers, optical gain elements, detectors, modulators, and other integrated waveguide devices 5+ years of experience in semiconductor or nano-fabrication process and a photonics device development role
