We are looking for a Sr. Apps Engineer to join our team! This position reports to the Applications Group Manager. The Applications Engineer will work closely with ZYGO’s sales, marketing and engineering teams while interfacing with customers during pre- and post- sales activities. In this highly technical position you are expected to become an expert operator of ZYGO’s optical metrology instrumentation and have the ability to define the optimum solution to meet the specific requirements of a metrology application.
Become a key customer-facing technical resource through expertise with Zygo’s metrology instrumentation. Support the sales team through customer sample measurements, instrument demonstrations, and measurement reports. Perform onsite training of customers through individual visits as well as supporting tradeshows, technical meetings, and conferences. Stay abreast of new industry developments, trends, and applications. Assess the performance of ZYGO products from a user’s point of view and provide feedback to support product development. Investigate new uses of ZYGO’s technology. Work closely with R+D and Engineering to communicate customer feedback, develop new product features, and troubleshoot issues. Create and/or review technical documentation and marketing collateral such as application notes, webinars, videos, and presentations. Other duties as assigned by manager.
Work Experience
B.S. Engineering, Physics, Optics or related field Experience (3-5 years) in technical role Knowledge and experience within the Electronics, Semiconductor, Optics, Aerospace, Defense, or Automotive industry Experience in a customer-facing product support role
Technical Experience
Background within a technical specialty preferred Metrology experience within Automotive, Optics, Photonics, or Aerospace market an advantage Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, or related preferred Knowledge and experience of optical metrology systems strongly desired
Communication Skills
Strong ability to communicate to sales, engineering, operations, and management teams on all levels (internal and external) Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
