Senior Director of Sensor Chemistry

The Senior Director (Sensor Chemistry) will lead the chemistry team developing a novel intradermal biosensor technology. You will manage a team of scientists with diverse expertise in product development and lead research efforts. You are self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team to drive success. This is a highly influential role spanning R&D and pilot-scale production.


What You Will Be Responsible for Leading efforts to develop a novel intradermal biosensor Managing and mentoring a team of scientists and research efforts focusing on product development Managing day-to-day experimental planning, data analysis, and prioritization of project-based activities. Design, develop and execute synthesis of sensors, both independently and with the team, to evaluate and optimize novel amperometric, potentiometric, and voltammetric biosensors Working closely w/ hardware development team to implement seamless device-level integration Working closely w/ contract manufacturers to transition biosensor designs to volume manufacturing Statistical analysis of biosensor performance: uniformity, repeatability, stability, and batch variation Defining specifications, generating documentation, and iterating designs based upon feedback from partners Assist in process development for transition to volume manufacturing Education, Experience, and Key Skills PhD Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or equivalent field Solid experience with electrochemistry, electroanalytical methods, surface chemistry, and electrochemical biosensors Extensive understanding of enzymes, ionophores, catalysts, nano-materials and polymers Strong experience in functionalization of biosensors with various catalysts, biocatalysts, mediators, co-factors, co-reagents, perm-selective membranes, ion-selective membranes, nano-scale materials Ability to interface with electrical, mechanical, and biomedical engineers and work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams and drive results in a timely manner 10+ years of sensor development in continuous glucose monitor (CGM) from ideation to product launch Excellence in project management, organization and problem solving Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, see, talk or hear in a standard office environment. Employee may occasionally lift/or move up to 50 pounds.
