Complete Genomics’ is looking for an experienced MEMs engineer to join our fluidic devices team. In this position, you will work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment located in Sunnyvale, CA facility, and with teams at BGI, external partners, and vendors to make significant contributions to our next-generation sequencing flowcells. This position requires solid technical background in MEMs engineering as well as hands-on design, lab skills, creativity, and collaboration.



Major Duties and Responsibilities:


Design and develop consumable devices including execution on concept, design, part evaluation, fabrication process optimization, product builds, and hands-on support as needed to achieve project goals.


Develop cost-effective approaches to manufacture components and assemblies, including vendor identification, evaluation, and selection.


Oversee, monitor, coordinate, and communicate the activities of partners to meet project deliverables.


Independently plan, design, and execute test designs and experiments in the lab.


Analyze data and report technical results; write reports for internal and external partners.


Collaborate with internal and external engineering and scientific groups as needed to ensure the design meets the system requirements and integrates at the system level to meet overall product requirements


Identify critical compliance requirements, project milestones, and their interdependencies.


Perform other work-related duties as assigned.


Minimum of 15% travel required.



Minimum Qualifications:


MS degree in Micro-/Nano-technology, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering, with 3+ years of experience; or a Ph.D. with 1+ year of experience; or BS degree with 5+ years of experience in MEMS, semiconductor device design, fabrication, and testing.


Demonstrated experience, skills, and knowledge in semiconductor processes such as mask layout design, photolithography, thin-film growth, etching, dicing, wafer bonding, and wafer handling. Hands-on experience in fab processes will be an advantage.


Demonstrated experience in statistical process control and skills in statistical data analysis.


Demonstrated experience in managing third-party development groups and suppliers – Specifically concerning specifications and requirements, deliverables and milestones, cost, and schedules.


Ability to multitask and adapt to rapidly changing requirements, priorities, and tight schedules.


Design for Safety, Reliability, and Manufacturability.



Preferred Qualifications:


Fluent in Mandarin Chinese.


Demonstrated experience in product development, design control process, manufacturing, quality of consumables for bioanalytical processes in plastic, glass, and/or silicon.


Experience using solid-modeling software (SolidWorks preferred) will be an advantage.


Design Controls and Regulatory knowledge such as GMP, ISO13485, 21 CFR 820.30 requirements for Design Controls.
