GlaxoSmithKline has an immediate opening for an Investigator position – LC-MS and protein characterization in Collegeville, PA.


The mass spectrometry group is well equipped with modern instrumentation including Synapt G2S with both H/DX and IM, Xevo G2-XS, Orbitrap Fusion Tribrid, Orbitrap XL, Exploris 480, Eclipse Tribrid, Q Exactive Plus, 2D-NanoUPLC, Nano-UPLC, UPLC and many other supporting instrumentation and associated data analysis software.


This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following…


Developing mass spec-based analytical strategies & methods (e.g. LC-MS and LC-MS/MS) Perform analysis for the characterization and comparability evaluation of therapeutic proteins. Apply advanced methods and techniques, including immunoprecipitations and/or other small-scale purifications Develop other analytical and/or biochemical methods to deepen the understanding of protein structure -function relationships Represent the group in project matrix teams to provide Subject Expert Matter (SME) inputs in supporting clinical studies through commercial biopharmaceutical process development and manufacturing.

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:


MS with 8+ years of experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry or a Ph.D with 3+ years of experience Experience with in protein characterization mass spectrometry, with hands-on experience on various high-resolution accurate mass LC-MS instruments operation, nano-LC fluidics and LC-MS/MS methods, data processing software and workflows. Experience in mass spectrometry instrumentation, maintenance, and troubleshooting Experience in participating and supporting biopharmaceutical analytical development at different stages

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:


Experience in analysis of protein therapeutics using platform assays like intact/reduced, peptide mapping and advanced/novel technologies Scientific working knowledge in the structure and function of protein therapeutics Knowledge and hands-on experience in various separation techniques such as immunoprecipitation or other in vitro purification, CE, SEC, IEX and HPLC/UPLC Experience supporting FTIH through commercial stage of biopharmaceutical development The candidate is expected to be highly motivated with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Candidate should be an instinctive team player with excellent people skills. Experience in developing cutting-edge LC-MS/MS workflows for therapeutic proteins including mAbs, ADCs, and bispecifics is highly desirable.
