Product Marketing Engineer - TEM

The Materials and Structural Analysis business enables customers to find meaningful answers to questions that accelerate breakthrough discoveries, increase productivity, and ultimately change the world. The business designs, manufactures, and supports the broadest range of high-performance microscopy workflows that provide images and answers in the micro-, nano-, and picometer scales.

What will you do?
The Product Marketing Engineer (PME) is responsible for developing business opportunities, technical and application-based sales strategies, and communicating and promoting Thermo Fisher’s Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) products and solutions, maintaining a strong understanding of customer technical requirements for existing and future products. This position promotes long term business opportunities, while supporting short term sales cycles, consistent with product line objectives.


Support and lead the sales account managers by conducting to the point technical product presentations and demonstrations showing specific application solutions, advanced product accessories or options for our current product offerings. Support the business development efforts in workshops, workflows, campaigns and A3 development and management tracking Accompany sales account managers on customer visits to determine key application needs, decision criteria, competitive strengths and weaknesses, assist sales force in the promotion of our products at trade shows Provide detailed feedback from existing customers, prospects, and the sales force to assist in the definition of product configurations or improvements that target specific markets or market segments Providing beta testing feedback towards applications development regarding new hardware and software pre-releases Lead and drive the process with applications development to understand and describe special customer requirements initiating the NSR for internal execution to turn the customer requirements into sellable products and features. Own the iterations for the NSR requirements between the BU and the customer Develop sales support materials including applications notes, competitive matrices, product scorecards and technical presentations Develop and present technical papers at professional symposia, author technical articles for trade press Keep the sales force up to date with the latest product releases, application solutions, value statements or competitive issues Recommend, evaluate, and detail our own- and third-party accessories Work with demonstration lab staff to develop effective niche demonstration techniques Customer support and applications training post sales cycle and after instrument has been installed.
How will you get here?
This position is ideal for an experienced professional wanting to be involved with a dynamic team and exposed to a constant variety of customer application areas. The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience.

Education Requires a University degree in Materials Science, Chemistry and or Physics or equivalent experience. Advanced degree is preferred.
Experience Typically requires 5 or more years’ experience in a relevant technical environment. Extensive experience with TEM systems and their scientific applications for industrial customers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge and recent hands-on experience with TEM are required. Ability to work in a team environment. Proven ability to get along with cross - functional and cross - cultural teams Excellent, hardworking, clear interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with a diverse audience are essential to the success of this position. Ability to travel domestically and internationally (from time to time) and possession of a valid passport Excellent customer interfacing skills a must Ability to travel both domestically internationally (50% to 75%), possession of a valid passport.
