Minimum Job Requirements:
Must have a minimum of a high school diploma/GED equivalency and pass the plant employment exams. Must have 5 years industrial plant maintenance experience in Anhydrous Ammonia and HVAC or refrigeration and possess certification as a Level II Ammonia Refrigeration RETA or CIRO (Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator) or higher. (Other nationally recognized certifications will be considered.) Preferred also have maintenance experience in boilers, air compressors (up to 600 PSI), wastewater treatment, water purification (prefer NANO or RO filtration), electrical systems (up to 460 V), piping systems, and hydraulics. Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics. Ability to recognize defective parts and to distinguish machine sounds, to detect potential mechanical issues. Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds, to work on elevated surfaces and work in extreme temperatures and noise levels. Ability to pass an annual physical and respiratory test. Basic understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLC’s) and troubleshooting PLC controlled systems. Ability to read, write, speak and understand instructions given in English. Ability to work eight-hour shifts, 12-hour shifts, day or night shift, or other work schedules as determined by business need, including overtime as required. Required to work holidays and plant shutdowns.
Essential Duties:
Oversee the Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) program which includes preparation activities for PHA, participating in PHA reviews and execution of PHA audit recommendations in a timely manner. (Every 5 years) Oversee the Mechanical Integrity (MI) audit which includes preparation activities for MI audit, participating in MI reviews and execution of MI audit recommendations/findings in a timely manner. (Every 5 years) Oversee the Compliance Audit which includes preparation activities for Compliance Audit, participating in Compliance Audit reviews and execution of Compliance Audit recommendations/findings in a timely manner. (Every 3 years) Validate that annual visual inspections are done in a timely manner. Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and P&ID's are maintained for all equipment in the system and that the documents are recertified annually. Ensure that the Management of Change (MOC) process is being preform accurately and properly retains documentation for the PSM program. Create/verify/rewrite equipment specific LOTO procedures for all ammonia refrigeration equipment. Participate in new equipment installation and ensure all required documents are completed in regard to PSM processes, such as, equipment installation sketch, development of SOP and LOTO procedures, tag all valves, label pipes and equipment. Work with Safety Managers on incident investigations related to PSM processes and ensure follow up is completed on any recommendations. Participate in any OSHA or EPA audits of PSM/RMP for the plant. Will put a plan in place to resolve and answer all audit findings in a timely manner. Coordinate the plant PSM training programs. Research and be familiar with regulatory requirements as needed. Interface with federal and state agencies (OSHA, EPA, State Environmental/Safety agencies, etc.) as required. Assist with outside contractor compliance and training for PSM related policies and procedures. Maintain compliance manuals as necessary. Actively participate and or lead PSM related plant meetings. Ensure that current PM's are following manufacturer's recommendations per IIAR and verify that PM's are being performed in compliance with the schedule. Conduct annual chemical inventory. Maintain data on hazard assessment in the SDS authoring system. The PSM Coordinator is responsible for the reviewing/updating of SDSs and label text supporting the global hazard communication requirements of the location. Provides support related to global hazard communication requirements and inquiries to both internal and external customers. Provide internal and external customer support related to hazard communication. Maintain their knowledge of global hazard communication requirements. Actively participate in system development projects to continue to maintain compliance with global hazard communication regulations and related regulatory requirements. Coordinates the HAZMAT team members by providing training, ensuring that equipment is in working condition and scheduling HAZMAT physicals and tracking the information in regard to HAZMAT team's physicals. Coordinates chemical approvals and makes sure the proper team members are trained and introduced to any new chemicals. Drives resolution for any PSM mechanical related issues. All other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent preferred. 5 years related experience in a related position is preferred. PSM certification is preferred or able to become certified. Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration is necessary. Knowledge of OSHA and other applicable Federal and State legislations. Basic computer skills including Gmail and MS Office. Must be able to work extended hours and weekends if needed. Act as back-up (when necessary) for the facilities ammonia specialist Maintain, operate and troubleshoot plant ammonia refrigeration systems in a safe manor Maintain, operate and troubleshoot plant boiler, condensate returns and steam distribution systems Maintain, operate and troubleshoot plant water treatment system to include NANO and RO filtered systems Maintain, operate and troubleshoot plant compressed air systems up to and including 600 psi Maintain, operate and troubleshoot plant HVAC, exhaust and make-up air units Maintain, operate and troubleshoot plant fire protection systems Restore plant utilities, to include up to 460 VAC power distribution systems, after power outages Be an active member of the Hazardous Chemical Response Team Use computer and associated software to operate plant utility equipment Support Process Safety Management (PSM) program Utilize plant Computerized maintenance management system to document work orders, equipment history, document personal labor hours, etc.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a manufacturing plant. Work involves exposure to temperature extremes, high noise levels, wetness, heights, dust, moving equipment, vibrations and vapors.
Equipment Used:
Personal protective equipment including, but not limited to safety glasses, steel-toed shoes and hearing protection. Full Facepiece Air Purifying Respirator (APR) with cartridge and/or canister. Supplied Air Respirator (Airline with helmet and full facepiece pressure-demand or continuous flow). Computer and associated software. MSDS sheets, hand tools, measuring instruments, power tools, fire extinguisher and lockout devices. Confined space equipment. Company truck.
Non-essential Functions:
Travel to other locations. Develop and train peers and new facilities maintenance associates in current and new technologies. Perform other duties as assigned. Explain and demonstrate job tasks to visitors. Operate forklift and Genie boom.
