OVERVIEW
The Director, Global Sourcing & Supplier Management owns the strategic sourcing process and will develop and execute a global sourcing strategy that builds the capabilities needed for long-term growth and sustainability. This position develops, maintains, and leverages long-term key relationships with suppliers, while driving profitability and growth through a high focus on cost, quality, and capacity. The Director will own all aspects of strategic sourcing in collaboration with various business leaders. Responsibilities include manufacturing partner selection, risk assessment, securing capacity to support current and future growth, cost and contract negotiations, quality assurance, and relationship management.
The Director will also provide ongoing management of new and existing manufacturing operations globally through a team of sourcing and quality assurance professionals, focusing on strategic planning, country of origin diversification, developing and tracking supplier KPIs, and alignment through ongoing continuous improvement efforts to control and reduce costs and enhance quality, productivity, and efficiency.
The ideal candidate will be based in the Dallas area and available to work in a hybrid work environment rotating between a home office and our office in Garland, TX. We are open to making this a fully remote role for the right non-local candidate with the expectation of occasional travel to our Garland office as necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Lead, manage, and hold team accountable. Create sourcing strategies that align with company business objectives and product roadmap, including leading or participating in supplier selection, capability assessments, quality improvement, and supplier readiness. Work directly with the Director, Innovations & Engineering in leading the evaluation and qualification of all manufacturing partners. Development of supplier relationships and securing favorable manufacturing agreements. Identify and drive resolution of issues related to supplier performance and relationships. Establish and improve sourcing processes and procedures to support management of supplier performance, supplier selection strategy, capacity planning, cost negotiations, and analysis of profitability. Evaluate, measure, and report supplier performance metrics and scorecards. Ownership of detailed product Bill of Materials (BOM) and associated cost; drive BOM reviews of all core product categories with internal teams. Lead a team directly responsible for evaluating, qualifying, and managing continuous improvement of all Fortress Building Products’ manufacturing partners. Ensure efficient operations and execution of our supplier strategy and manage a team that constantly works to monitor and improve existing supplier quality, with the ability to scale and support continued growth. Conduct regular Supplier Partner reviews seeking innovation as well as improvements in quality and productivity. Quality control and QC team management, collaboration, and creation of QC standards for new products and manufacturing partners.

Education/Experience/Additional Requirements Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Sourcing, Supply Chain, or related field. Minimum 10 years of experience in global sourcing and supply chain management in low-cost countries including supplier identification, assessment, certification, and development. Minimum of 5 years in a direct management role. Previously worked with contract manufacturers. Proven negotiation skills. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to make presentations and influence people at all levels of the organization. Comfortable in a small business, rapid growth environment. Ability to create strategic plans and execute them. Experience managing a team of Sourcing professionals, utilizing management best practices to engage and develop direct reports. High degree of emotional intelligence and empathy; able to build relationships with different cultures from around the world. International business experience working globally across cultures and time zones. Knowledge of metals coatings a plus: galvanization, pre-treatment, E coating, powder coating, nano coating, chromate treatment, etc. Knowledge of these materials and subjects a plus: cold rolled and hot rolled steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel grades and proper uses, aluminum types and tempering, dissimilar metals reaction, screws/fastener makeup and uses, PP, PE, PVC, plastics, and composites. Knowledge of these processes a plus: roll forming, TIG and MIG welding, powder coating, powder coating equipment, E-coating, automatic welding, robotic welding, heat shrink machines, die casting, aluminum, and plastic extrusions, etc. International travel up to 30%. Other Skills and Abilities: Experience in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Access required. Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains software a plus. Experience with Solid Works EPDM software.
