Job Description:
We are seeking Senior Scientist to be part of a team focused on genome and cellular engineering in the Genomic Medicine Unit. The successful candidate will play a key supporting role in building cellular genome editing technology as an approach for treatment of immunological, inflammatory and/or oncological diseases.
Specifically, the remit of the candidate will be to:
Lead the strategic implementation of novel RNA engineering to increase delivery and/or efficacy across cell and tissue types. Lead the integration of mRNA-based gene editing technologies with lipid nano particles to support the development of next generation immune cell or tissue targeted therapies. Assist in the execution of a novel strategy for genomic modulation of ex vivo cell populations to support immuno-oncology programs at Sanofi Transversally collaborate across the company to support building the cell and genome engineering portfolio in Genomic Medicine Unit Support and lead development of next-generation genome editing and gene therapy tools to strongly position Sanofi as a leader in ex vivo gene therapy space Responsible for applying scientific expertise and judgement to initiate, design and execute experiments in a time sensitive manner. Acts as an impactful contributor of project teams and transverse initiatives. Provides informal and/or formal mentoring to junior scientists in the team Fosters creativity, productivity, execution with a sense of urgency, scientific integrity and accountability. Maintains a collaborative culture.
Qualifications:
PhD plus minimum 3 years of relevant research experience in an academic and/or biopharmaceutical setting or master’s degree plus minimum of 5 years of relevant research experience in a biopharmaceutical setting. Prior experience working with and creating RNA molecules is required Experience in RNA chemistry, including but not limited to, implementing modified bases, 5’ cap chemistry, poly-A tail and UTRs. Proficient in the design and execution of in vitro transcription and associated purification Ability to develop novel strategies to increase mechanistic action of RNA molecules. Prior experience involving genome editing applications is required Genome editing and/or gene therapy experience with ex vivo immune cell populations (such as T- and NK-cells) preferred Experienced, results-oriented, with a track record of significant contribution to research projects and peer-reviewed publications Demonstrated ability to independently design, execute, interpret and present experimental results. Flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and deadlines in a dynamic, fast paced industry and work environment. Experience in preparing high quality documents including technical reports, presentations, SOPs, experimental protocols and regulatory filings. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Candidates must be authorized to work in the USA.
