Senior Process Engineer/Project Manager

Job Description

Veolia North America’s Industrial Business seeks a chemical process engineer / project manager with at least seven years of experience to join its team in Houston, TX. The candidate will report to the Director of Process Engineering and support development and application of existing and new process technologies for the treatment and recovery of valuable constituents in clients’ wastewater and residuals streams using organic/inorganic separations, patented and proprietary physical-chemical unit operations, and various other separation technologies. The position will focus on projects in a variety of markets, including oil and gas, petrochemicals, metals finishing, and mining.


Develop material and energy balancesDevelop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and other key process design documents
Work with vendors and service providers to develop project budgets, perform detailed engineering, procurement and constructionDevelop process and functional control descriptions, and provide support with operating procedures and troubleshooting guides
Experience with Process Safety Management and Process Hazards Analyses (PHA)Experience with commissioning and start-upWorking knowledge of Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices, e.g., ISA, API, and others
Identifying and prioritizing resource needs (internal and external), with ability to coordinate and schedule their deployment in maintenance of project schedule and
budget.

Qualifications

This position requires experience in the following areas:



Technology validations using laboratory bench-scale and field-based pilotsEngineering and economic analysisProviding technical guidance on complex issues requiring independent analysis, judgment and team work
Familiarity with work processes and tools such as Project Front-End LoadingStrong Project Management skillsAn ability to refine/improve process efficiency and execution capabilitiesAn ability to work effectively with a range of technical and operations personnelAn ability to provide technical support and collaboration on business development opportunities
An ability to capture company innovations in standards and design techniquesGood writing and verbal communications skills, including technical reportingAt least 7 years of relevant work

Education:


BS degree in engineering or closely related technical field MS in related technical field, with water treatment experience, preferred

Technologies:


Processes involving the handling of solids and slurries, including conveyance and pumping systems.
Centrifugation (two and three-phase decanters).Filtration (micro, ultra, nano, multimedia, recessed filter press)Reverse Osmosis systemsPhysicochemical-based unit operationsInorganic and metal treatment of aqueous wastewaters, including ion exchange, evaporation and related separations.
Computer and Software – Aside from typical office productivity software, experience with
AutoCAD and development of custom solutions using Excel (with VBA) are a plus.
