Senior Metrology Technician - Morning Shift

This position is based in San Jose, California (US) and is required to be in compliance with ITAR regulations.


We are looking for a senior talented hands-on contributor that will be proactive, organized and interact well with scientists and engineers creating the nex-gen carbon nano-materials. To be successful in this role, a deep understanding of the metrology tools operation and data analysis is essential.


This is a morning shift position (6 AM - 2 PM).


Responsibilities:


Prepare samples and materials from R&D and production teams. Operate a variety of analytical instruments and laboratory equipment used for materials characterization to generate information relevant to optical, physical, chemical, and structural properties. Establish, refine, and document standard operating procedures (SOPs). Provide support in maintaining variety of analytical instruments, metrology tools, and laboratory equipment used for characterization of advanced materials through regular reference sample checks, calibrations and periodic preventative maintenance. Process and analyze data, and document findings detailing material quality, properties, and consistency. Expand current understanding of materials properties. Communicate timelines for publication of data and/or any delays that may occur because of hardware or other issues. Skilled in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database spreadsheets; JMP experience a plus. Work on a cross disciplinary team with an open mind to new ideas in a fast-paced startup company. Generate reports and effectively communicate results and conclusions to team members and stakeholders.

Education and Experience Requirements:


At least 5 years hands-on experience or a BS degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, with 3 years hands-on industry experience. Experience characterizing materials and analyzing data. Experience maintaining instruments and/or process equipment. Experience analyzing data to extract relevant information and identify trends. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work independently and ability to collaborate on cross-functional teams. Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills with ability to independently set priorities to meet deadlines. Carbon allotrope knowledge and exposure to manufacturing environment is nice to have. LYTEN500
