Tyvak Nano-Satellite Systems, a Terran Orbital Corporation company, is seeking new members to join the structural test/ analysis team. Tyvak focuses exclusively on developing components and subsystems into highly-integrated and custom nano-satellite vehicles. The Team’s skillset ranges from architecture, design, build, and testing of major mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems integrated into small spacecraft.
You will join a collaborative team to develop innovative nano and micro-satellite vehicle solutions for multiple projects and programs. You’ll be responsible for hardware development during all phases of a development cycle, including requirements, design, analysis, implementation, test, integration, and documentation in a fast-paced environment. It is expected that the individual will have an ability and desire to learn, grow, and discover continuously.
Responsibilities
Working in a small team environment closely with mechanical, electrical, and system engineers to develop optimal solutions to complex problems Participating in hardware requirements generation, design, analysis, implementation, and testing discussion with multiple team members Creating detailed finite element models of satellite structures and conducting analyses including but not limited to static, dynamic, buckling, thermal, linear, non-linear and transient for complex spacecraft systems and/or sub-systems composed of various materials (isotropic, orthotropic, composites, honeycomb and non-linear) used in the space industry. Ownership of mechanical test projects from start to finish including but not limited to: obtaining quotations from the test house, resolving schedule conflicts internally and externally, planning logistics of the test with the test house if testing is out-sourced, designing and analyzing test fixtures, assessment of tools/ hardware required for each test, transportation of the test item to the test house and documentation of al the decision and changes Developing test plans, procedures, and reports for mechanical analyses and tests including but not limited to vibration, shock, acceleration, life and endurance test Interfacing with outside vendors /test facilities to coordinate mechanical testing logistics and requirements Participating in team discussions involving vehicle arrangement and design/ analysis for ongoing and future projects Design and analysis of testing fixtures suitable for conducting mechanical tests Working in both an office and lab environment Up to 20% travel Other duties as assigned
