Description

The candidate would have the following credentials:

ACVSMR Diplomate (preferred) or eligible Rehab Certification or advanced knowledge a plus Maryland DVM License - or eligible Strong interest in orthopedics and comfort with advanced diagnostics and rehab concepts

Position Description: This role would see a primary caseload of orthopedic and sports medicine work-up cases; some with no-prior diagnosis, some with RDVM referral with limited localization of lameness. In addition to consultative services, they would utilize their skills as a diagnostician and create management plans for patients as well as performing diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, joint injections, Extracorporeal shockwave therapy and other related therapeutic procedures. If surgery is recommended they would refer the cases to our on-site surgeons (5 Surgery Diplomates on staff). If a rehab plan and long term management is needed they would refer internally to one of our 5 Certified Rehab providers (two of which are DVM’s). They would not be performing surgery or rehab services directly. Conservative Management of fracture cases would also be required after consultation with one of our surgeons.

While we do have access to telehealth radiology review services, a strong comfort level interpreting orthopedic radiographs is required, additional modalities including CT or MRI can be performed off site and reports provided. This team member would have dedicated support staff as well as the full support of our concierge coordinator service that facilitates appointment booking, diagnostic scheduling, consult and medical record completion and client correspondence. Familiarity with OFA, SV, PennHip and other orthopedic certifications is preferred.

We currently have a caseload ready for this person, this type of appointment is currently booked out 4 months in our system so while there would be opportunity to build their reputation within the community they would not need to build a caseload which is a nice advantage for a new clinician. Both our Medical Director (ACVS and ACVSMR diplomate) and Head of Rehab would work directly with this person to mentor them and support them in their development within this role and to help integrate them into our team and practice. We see this position being a 3-4 day a week schedule.

Our hospitals feature, a full lab, digital radiology, arthroscopy, Nano-arthroscopy, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, shockwave, under water treadmills, therapy lasers, and access to other specialists and our urgent care service for after hours follow-ups, bandage changes, etc.
