Quality Engineer

Tyvak Nano-Satellite Systems Inc., a Terran Orbital company, is seeking a team-oriented and results-driven Quality Engineer to support critical customers including, but not limited to, the Aerospace and Military sectors by coordinating and executing multiple quality assurance activities designed to promote continuous quality improvement and customer satisfaction. This person will support the Quality Management System (QMS) including Resources, Design and Development, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Continual Improvement through the use of established industry practices including verifiable corrective actions and process improvements. As an integral contributor to Quality Assurance, this role will work in conjunction with the plant leadership team and personnel in all departments.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Execute, maintain and evolve the company Quality Management System in line with Tyvak strategy. Develop and analyze data to determine whether present processes and procedures will meet the proposed quality and reliability expectancy of the finished product, and assist in the development/implementation of quality plans and processes for new customers, products, and technologies. Develop and maintain effective proactive and preventative quality processes utilizing PPAP core elements (PFMEA, Process Flow and Control Plans, etc.) and CAPA / RCCA to increase product improvement and lower QMS defects. Perform contract review on incoming customer orders and documentation and test data reviews for component, module, and vehicle assemblies. Develop and implement processes in coordination with Purchasing department to improve supplier quality performance. Support all team members to ensure the consistent and repeatable on-time delivery of conforming finished goods per customers' requirements driving customer satisfaction. Plans, promotes and organizes training activities across departments as required related to workmanship, product quality, and reliability. Address internal and external complaints regarding quality, based on investigations, and ensures the timely implementation and verification of related immediate, preventive and detection corrective actions. Promotes awareness and compliance to all customer, internal, industry and regulatory requirements and deliverables throughout the organization.

Qualification Requirements

Skills


Ability to review and understand high reliability (HI-REL) customers' requirements and their potential implications on an existing process. Strong methodology to investigate Root Cause and therefore provide effective Corrective Action to avoid reoccurrences. A successful change agent willing to help Tyvak make changes happen by inspiring and influencing others. Ability to recommend action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformity relating to the product, process, and QMS. Complete understanding of IPC Industry Standards, MIL-STD, and NASA workmanship acceptability guidelines. Knowledge of machining, assembly operations, problem solving, gauging, process capability, SPC, APQP, and the AS9100 and ISO 9001 QMS’. Knowledge and experience with AIAG Core Tools (SPC, PFMEA, PPAP, APQP, MSA, QSA). Preferred Skills: ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Six Sigma Greenbelt (CSSGB), ATEX, IECEx and In Metro certification audits

Education / Experience


Bachelor’s Degree Minimum five (5) years of experience in a Quality function within a high reliability manufacturing environment at least two (2) of which should be in electronics. Auditing and CAPA skills preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


This is largely a sedentary role with heavy computer usage. The position may require the Quality Engineer to climb stairs, move files, open filing cabinets and bend/stand as necessary.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:


This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
