Test Technician

At Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology, we provide tools for the engineering of micro- and nano-structures, with customers using our process solutions to research and produce materials and semiconductors vital for everything from medical devices and diagnostics, to electric cars and quantum computers.

We are currently recruiting for a Test Technician, this will be a permanent role based in Yatton, Bristol. Your primary role purpose will be to install systems in test and perform basic test procedures prior to hand over to Test Engineers. To support the PDI process by maintaining the supply of required wafers and their measurement during this process.

Key Responsibilites : Install and prepare systems prior to hand over to Test Engineers for full system testing To carry out basic test procedures on systems under the guidance of senior technicians To maintain wafer kanban to support PDI process To measure wafers during PDI process To develop personal skills and technical competence required to support promotion to Grade 5T role Aim to continuously improve skill levels by increasing key skills competency as defined in the Departmental Skills Matrix / OI Quality standards Maintain good housekeeping and 5S initiatives To carry out any other duties within the test department requested by management to support the production schedule
Work on a rotating shift pattern in line with the rota notified to you by your Team Leader
Contribute to the performance of the Test Team through CI initiatives.

Education/Qualifications :
Time served Electrical apprenticeship or City & Guilds part 3.
ONC or other professional qualifications preferred.

Professional Skills/Abilities:
Ability to read electrical drawings
Panel wiring skills to schematics
Core electrical skills
Good communication skills
Ability to fault find and implement corrective action
Fast but accurate worker, who is not easily distracted
Understands the team goals and contributes towards them

You will be employed to work on a rotating shift pattern. Each working week consists of 4 shifts of 8 hours and one of 5 hours. Currently the shifts are Early (starting at 06:00hrs) and Afternoon (starting at 14:00hrs).
