Quality Manager

At Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology, we provide tools for the engineering of micro- and nano-structures, with customers using our process solutions to research and produce materials and semiconductors vital for everything from medical devices and diagnostics, to electric cars and quantum computers.

You as a Quality Manager will lead, coach and develop both your own dedicated Quality Team, and our wider business to understand the impact of focusing on quality and how we can all make an impact for our customers, business and colleagues. You will be fully supported by the Executive Team in your quality mission.

Other key accountabilities include; Own and driver the quality improvement agenda and uphold all quality measures. Responsible for the maintenance and continuous improvement of the QMS and BMS. Ownership and maintenance of all audit and certification to all applicable standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Drive ownership for delivered quality from design and engineering, suppliers, productions and for customers
Uphold, champion and deliver the quality vision, charter, measures, and principles
Develop and implement quality management strategy and plans (including systems and measurement) to support, contribute to, and integrate within the organisation's business strategy.
Take ownership for the total cost of quality and drive continuous improvement
Develop and maintain systems to establish appropriate standards relating to activities and products, and measure performance against them, taking necessary action to address issues as they arise.
Maintain compliance to, and control of, the Company’s Standards, Quality accreditation, as well as any Semiconductor and other higher level accreditation (e.g. ISO, CE, Semi S2, UL, CSA, etc).
Work with colleagues and customers to identify and quantify opportunities for improving the quality of products and services offered to internal and external customers, and recommend approaches and necessary actions to deliver improvements.
Plan and manage quality activities and performance in accordance with agreed targets, budgets and timescales.
Report as necessary on changes in standards (internally and externally initiated), on performance against them, and take actions accordingly.
Liaise and co-operate with quality management and standards bodies (e.g., BSI, Government Departments, HSE, etc) and integrate the relevant standards within internal quality management systems.
Develop and implement a communication strategy to improve awareness and ownership of quality issues across the entire company. Working closely with departmental management across the business, ensure that the highest practical level of quality standards and methods are achieved and maintained, including those involving customers, suppliers and sub-contractors.

Education / Qualifications:
Engineering or manufacturing qualification helpful.
Membership of professional Quality body – CQI, etc. Internal Auditor Qualified.
Degree level qualification advantageous.

Professional Skills/ Abilities:
Strong people focussed manager with leadership, coaching and influencing capability
Experience of maintaining ISO Quality accreditation.
Problem solving skills and knowledge of relevant toolkits.
Articulate – able to prepare clear documents, reports and proposals.
Project management.
Able to lead quality improvement activity within cross functional teams.
Able to advise and act on complex quality issues – e.g. business processes, root cause analysis, document control and traceability.
Presentation skills to successfully put forward proposals to management at all levels
Communication and customer facing skills to support solutions to problems in meeting customer satisfaction.
Experience of Semi Conductor compliance standards preferred.
