Chemistry Technician

META is seeking a Chemistry Technician for our facility in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. You will play a key role in assisting in the development of photosensitive polymer formulations (photopolymer, photoresist, UV curable resins and more) for small and large-scale applications.

What You’ll Do:



Your role will involve working on the development of novel photosensitive polymer formulations for use in a wide array of applications and industries. The position will involve assisting in polymer formulation, mixing, application, measurement, and evaluation of the optical and physical properties. The successful candidate shall be involved with running laboratory based experiments with a view to upscaling to production levels and assisting in knowledge transfer. You will be required to utilize a wide range of laboratory equipment for processing and analysis of the formulations and display working knowledge of chemical safety. The role will require regular communication and input within meetings with presentation of results and experimental planning. The photosensitive polymers produced are used widely in META proprietary technologies for Holography, Lithography and ARfusion casting technology.



Some of the typical responsibilities will include:



Produce polymer mixtures of various forms in small and large scales. Ensure laboratory equipment is clean, safe and fit for purpose. Maintain detailed records of experimental parameters and chemical stock inventory. Create SOPs and aid training on specific equipment within the laboratory. Communicate with support partners, vendors, and global Meta teams in a professional and organized manner.

Minimum qualifications:



College Diploma in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry or related equivalent. 3 years’ experience working within a laboratory, with extensive knowledge of safe chemical use and handling. Strong analytical thinker with the ability to deliver original, innovative ideas and approaches to difficult problems. Ability to multitask on numerous projects concurrently with a high level of time management and priority organization of tasks. Experience creating documentation such as reports, presentations and SOPs.

Preferred qualifications:



An understanding and experience of working with polymer related chemicals. Experience dealing with specialized customer requirements.
