Process Technician, ARfusion Technology

META is seeking a Process Technician, ARfusion™ Technology for our facility in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. You will play a support role in ARfusion™ machines install, operation, maintenance, troubleshoot, design and development for fabrication of a wide range embedded smart technologies into ophthalmic lenses. META® has a broad range of platform technologies that include metamaterials, holographic elements, optical filters, sensors, conductive films, and more.

What You’ll Do
:



Your role will be to acquire the machine and automation knowledge of META’s ARfusion™ technology line, assist with the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the machines including development of new tools and automation for casting prescription lenses with embedded optical and electrical function. You will be part of an expert team to innovate and develop custom processes for new products and applications, including working hands-on within a diverse, multi-disciplinary team focused upon integration of holographic and conductive films into eyewear applications including high performance imaging systems, integrated optical sub-systems and smart lenses for Augmented Reality and defense eyewear. Reporting to the Production Manager, ARfusion Technology.



Some of the typical responsibilities will include:


Strictly adhere to and promote all equipment and facility operation and maintenance rules, governmental regulations, and safety practices Responsible for daily lens and film processing, production tracking, manufacturing documentation, and feedback of process deviation data or process improvement recommendations to the engineering team Responsible for all scheduled system maintenance and process parameters recording. Perform maintenance and repair plan Assisting with the improvement of tool reliability as well as assisting with the maintaining of spare parts inventory Communicate with support partners, vendors, and global Meta teams in a professional and organized manner

Minimum qualifications:


College Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronic Technology or equivalent. 5 years’ experience in a direct or similar manufacturing role with a similar scope of responsibilities. Strong analytical thinker with the ability to deliver original, innovative ideas and approaches to difficult problems. A logical deductive problem solver that can isolate a process deviation’s root cause quickly and efficiently Experience with an innovative, fast paced environment providing processing lines to meet industry standards. A professional candor and the ability to remain effective and collaborative in high stress situations.

Preferred qualifications:


Background in thermoforming, cast molding, optical injection molding (IM), precision optics, optical films, and ophthalmic post processing (optical coating, grinding, edging). Knowledge in automation and programing languages: PLC and SCADA systems, C#, C++ and Python. Experience dealing with specialized customer requirements. Experience with advanced, modern ophthalmic (eyeglass) processing machines, software control systems (LMS/LDS) and a strong understanding of industry standard (ANSI) tolerance and quality standards.
