Research Assistant Professor Position in Solid State Spectroscopy

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh (http://www.physicsandastronomy.pitt.edu/) invites applications for a new research assistant professor position. This appointment will work closely with the experimental condensed matter physics group of Distinguished Professor David Snoke, studying optics and transport of excitons and polaritons in semiconducting and two-dimensional materials, in conjunction with local resources in the Pittsburgh Quantum Institute and the Pittsburgh Institute of Nanoscience and Engineering. This appointment, which is subject to budgetary approval, will be in the non-tenure level and will begin immediately.


Experience with modern laboratory optics methods is essential; experience in cleanroom methods is desirable. A Ph.D. is required, but need not be in physics if the candidate has a strong background in condensed matter and solid-state theory. The successful candidate will be responsible for mentoring graduate students and overseeing daily laboratory operators. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
