JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Department of Physics at Worcester Polytechnic Institute invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Physics to begin in the Fall of 2022. WPI seeks an outstanding junior faculty member in the area of Nuclear Science and Engineering with research interests that align with WPI's Strategic Plan, such as in the broad multidisciplinary themes of health/biotechnology or energy and power creation.

The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in physics or in a closely related area and is expected to establish a vigorous externally funded research program that involves graduate and undergraduate students. Experience and commitment to excellence in mentoring and teaching undergraduate and graduate students in a robust and collaborative research program, so as to participate effectively in WPI's distinctive project-based curriculum, will be valued. We are looking for individuals who value innovation, creativity, diversity, inclusion, and collaboration. Preference will be given to experimentalists who can complement the outstanding team of researchers present both in the department and at WPI.

The Physics Department offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees and has strong research programs in the areas of radiological sciences, medical physics, biophysics, soft-condensed matter, optics, quantum physics, and nanoscience.
