Test Technician

At Oxford Instruments, we enable the world’s leading industrial companies and scientific research communities to image, analyse and manipulate materials down to the atomic and molecular level. Our customers use our NanoScience ultra-low temperature and high magnetic field environments to go beyond what was once thought possible, whether that’s creating Nobel Prize winning materials or developing quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team of experienced Manufacturing Technicians in the test department, where you will run predefined tests on our instrumentation to ensure that they are working according to the customers specifications.

If you have experience of working in a test environment, with complex mechanical assemblies or scientific instrumentation, we would love to hear from you.

Or, if you have a background in physics with a practical aptitude, we would be happy to provide training in this role.

Relocation support will be provided for the right candidate.

The opportunity

In this role your focus will be to work in the test environment across several of our product lines. This will include setting up your bay ready to assemble and test the products to ensure that they meet the required specifications and fault find any problems. You will assemble the various components and pre-made sub-assemblies and then follow test processing cards, take measurements, record data and complete test logs. The tests can be varied in complexity and can last from 2 days to 3 weeks. You will also receive training so that you have the required skills and experience to work on other areas of the production line, including build and wiring.

About You

Ideally you will have previous experience of working with instrumentation in a test role, however experience of mechanical assembly in a manufacturing environment is essential. Attention to detail is a must, together with the ability to solve problems and good communication skills. You must be able to work on multiple projects at any one time, because due to the varied processes involved, you will be working on several tests concurrently. An interest and understanding of physics would be an advantage however training in our technology will be provided.
