Manufacturing Team Leader

At Oxford Instruments, we enable the world’s leading industrial companies and scientific research communities to image, analyse and manipulate materials down to the atomic and molecular level. Our customers use our NanoScience ultra-low temperature and high magnetic field environments to go beyond what was once thought possible, whether that’s creating Nobel Prize winning materials or developing quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.

We are changing the role of our Manufacturing Team Leaders from leading a single cell to overseeing the entire production process of the SpectromagPT and TeslatronPT product lines from assembly to test. This will be an exciting role that will see you working with technicians and engineers from all disciplines, resource planning and problem solving. There will never be a dull minute.

We are looking for an experienced manufacturing team leader or engineer to join us and oversee the manufacturing of our low volume, high product variability, low temperature measurement systems. If you have experience of developing your team members, are dynamic, innovative, and resilient, then we would love to hear from you.

The opportunity

In this role you will be responsible for producing the team plan from the master production plan and managing the workload to ensure all milestones are achieved in terms of quality, output and efficiency. Managing assembly and test technicians, you will agree and implement measures and targets, monitor and control performance, as well as reporting on progress and initiating corrective action as required. You can expect involvement with implementing improvement activities for your team, maintaining the MRP system and providing production support as required. You will also be responsible for the development of staff within your area, including PDRs, objective setting and managing annual leave requests.

About you

You will have previous experience of leading a team within a modern manufacturing environment (ideally instrumentation or in a test environment), which should include using lean techniques to maintain an organised work area, as well as use of a MRP system and resource planning. Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques and problem solving, together with excellent interpersonal skills are essential for this role. The ability to motivate and develop your team is essential, including identifying skill gaps, responding positively to change, and leading by example. Your tenacity, organisational skills and love of a challenge will make you the ideal candidate for this role.

Benefits

In addition to a competitive starting salary, Oxford Instruments offers flexible working hours and a half-day on Fridays, 25 days annual leave, private healthcare, a share incentive plan, a defined contribution Group Personal Pension Plan, and a flexible benefits package that you can tailor to your own requirements. #LI-JR1
