At Oxford Instruments, we enable the world’s leading industrial companies and scientific research communities to image, analyse and manipulate materials down to the atomic and molecular level. Our customers use our NanoScience ultra-low temperature and high magnetic field environments to go beyond what was once thought possible, whether that’s creating Nobel Prize winning materials or developing quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.
Why not let us look after the development of your career, whilst you look after the development of our cutting-edge products?
We manufacture a huge variety of cryogenic / measurement systems and sub-assemblies, from multi-million-pound custom builds to much smaller instruments and we would like you to contribute towards the continued development of these products, with your focus being on application and measurement.
The opportunity
In this role you will be supporting the development of products and measurement techniques that meet customer requirements. This will include completing concept designs, design development, validation and providing technical support for the manufacture of cryogenic / measurement systems and sub-assemblies. As part of the validation process, you will provide detailed test documentation (in conjunction with other departments), define test procedures, interpret data and write reports, as well as ensuring that we stay compliant with applicable regulatory standards.
About You
To be effective in this role you will need to be able to understand the needs of the customer requirements and the challenges of their measurements. It would also be beneficial if you have prior knowledge of cryogenic systems and an appreciation of magnetic fields. The ideal candidate is likely to have a PhD in physical sciences, or a degree in a relevant subject with extensive experience of experiment design and automation of measurements at low temperatures. The ability to communicate effectively with others is essential, together with excellent problem-solving and team working skills.
Benefits
In addition to a competitive starting salary, Oxford Instruments offers flexible working hours and a half-day on Fridays, 25 days annual leave, private healthcare, a share incentive plan, a defined contribution Group Personal Pension Plan, and a flexible benefits package that you can tailor to your own requirements. #LI-JR1
