Buyer

At Oxford Instruments, we enable the world’s leading industrial companies and scientific research communities to image, analyse and manipulate materials down to the atomic and molecular level. Our customers use our NanoScience ultra-low temperature and high magnetic field environments to go beyond what was once thought possible, whether that’s creating Nobel Prize winning materials or developing quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.

Oxford Instruments NanoScience is growing! Because of this we are expanding our Supply Chain team and have an opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join us. This opportunity will give you exposure to world changing products, working on a wide variety of projects that will challenge and interest you.

The opportunity

In this role you will support the Supply Chain team in the procurement of materials in line with business needs and forecast requirements. You will be responsible for using the ERP to action messages, raise purchase orders and ensuring that it is updated to allow for accurate planning and costing. Day to day you will be required to make tactical buying decisions and manage supplier relationships to find a balance of quality, cost, and delivery of materials to achieve the output plan.

About You

The experience and knowledge that you have gained from previous roles will be of the highest importance for this position. You will have worked as a Buyer, ideally within a manufacturing environment, where you will have been exposed to engineering drawings. You will be confident in managing contracts, negotiations and developing supplier relationships to the benefit of NanoScience. If you are working towards your CIPS qualification that will be ideal. The ability to work as part of a supportive and friendly team is essential, together with the willingness to learn, being proactive and good attention to detail.

Benefits

In addition to a competitive starting salary, Oxford Instruments offers flexible working hours and a half-day on Fridays, 25 days annual leave, private healthcare, a share incentive plan, a defined contribution Group Personal Pension Plan, and a flexible benefits package that you can tailor to your own requirements. #LI-JR1
