At Oxford Instruments, we enable the world’s leading industrial companies and scientific research communities to image, analyse and manipulate materials down to the atomic and molecular level. Our customers use our NanoScience ultra-low temperature and high magnetic field environments to go beyond what was once thought possible, whether that’s creating Nobel Prize winning materials or developing quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.
We are looking for a Senior Buyer who has experience of working in a manufacturing environment, proactively managing suppliers and can positively contribute to the development of the Supply Chain and Planning team. If you are organised and respond positively to a challenge, then we would love to hear from you.
The opportunity
In this role you will contribute to the development of ideas and strategies that will improve the operational efficiency and continual improvement of the team. You will also support the Supply Chain team in the procurement of materials in line with business needs and forecast requirements. You will be responsible for using the ERP to action messages, raise purchase orders and ensuring that it is updated to allow for accurate planning and costing. Day to day you will be required to make tactical buying decisions and manage supplier relationships to find a balance of quality, cost, and delivery of materials to achieve the output plan.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have previous experience working as a Senior Buyer, ideally within a manufacturing environment, where you will have been exposed to engineering drawings. You will be confident in managing contracts, negotiations and developing supplier relationships to the benefit of NanoScience. If you are working towards your CIPS qualification that will be ideal. It would be desirable if you have previous experience of developing and coaching team members, with a drive to continually improve the supply chain and generate cost savings for this business. Your excellent communication skills, together with your team working and decision making abilities will be essential in this role.
Benefits
In addition to a competitive starting salary, Oxford Instruments offers flexible working hours and a half-day on Fridays, 25 days annual leave, private healthcare, a share incentive plan, a defined contribution Group Personal Pension Plan, and a flexible benefits package that you can tailor to your own requirements. #LI-JR1
