Projects

Microstructured gaseous electron detectors for registration of ionizing particles. Project funding: Research Council of Lithuania, Prospective R&D projects for Lithuania’s membership at CERN. Period of project implementation: 2024-10-01 - 2027-12-31. R&D in ongoing. Implementation of the activities of the Lithuanian Particle Physics Consortium. Project funding: The state budget of the Republic of Lithuania. Period of project implementation: 2024-01-01 - 2024-12-31. R&D in ongoing. Laser ablation of silicon nanoparticles and their use in charge-coupled devices for UV photon sensing (UVsense). Project funding: KTU Research and Innovation Fund. Period of project implementation: 2023-04-11 - 2023-12-31. Dr. Lazauskas was principal investigator in this project. This project demonstrated the practical use of Si nanoparticles by utilizing them as passive filters for CCD detectors. This practical example leveraged the wavelength-shifting properties of Si NP to enable non-sensitive CCD detectors to detect UV light. The overall efficiency of the CCD detector with the Si NP passive filter was determined to be 67 ± 2%. The transformation of UV light into visible light through Si NP-induced wavelength shifting showcased the versatility of Si NP in enhancing the functionality of existing technologies. Anti-fogging precise optical scales and limbs (RASA). This project was funded by the European Regional Development Fund according to the 2014–2020 Operational Programme for the European Union Funds’ Investments, under measure’s No. 01.2.2-LMT-K-718 activity “Research Projects Implemented by World-class Researcher Groups to develop R&D activities relevant to economic sectors, which could later be commercialized”. Period of project implementation: 2020-09-22 - 2023-09-01. Heterostructures and Superlattices of the Graphene and Related Carbon 2D Nanomaterials for Photovoltaics (3D FOTOGRAF). This project was funded by the European Social Fund according to the 2014–2020 Operational Programme for the European Union Funds’ Investments under measure’s No. 09.3.3-LMT-K-712 activity “Improvement of Researchers’ Qualification by Implementing World-class R&D Projects”. Period of project implementation: 2018-10-02 - 2022-06-30. New generation smart composite ultrasonic heat and water meters. This project was funded by European Regional Development Fund according to the 2014–2020 Operational Programme for the European Union Funds’ Investments under measure No. 01.2.1-LVPA-K-855 “Intellect LT-2″Period of project implementation: 2018-10-01 - 2022-02-27. Technology created: high-quality metering devices for a lower price, 1.5 times longer service life and twice longer period between periodical metrological inspections. In addition, newly developed meters are environmentally friendly, i.e. made of recyclable secondary raw materials. Development of advanced self-healing composites for new generation touch-sensitive screens. This project was funded by the European Regional Development Fund according to the 2014–2020 Operational Programme for the European Union Funds’ Investments under measure No. 01.2.2-CPVA-K-703 “Strengthening of Activities of Competence Centres’ and Innovation and Technology Transfer Centers’ “. Period of project implementation: 2018-06-07 - 2021-05-31. Technological outputs: 3D microstructure prototype; Model of optical device with protective coating; Prototype of an personal security device with orderly distributed nanoparticles. Investigation of optical properties of directly synthesized graphene and its application in evaluation of band gap energy width. This project was funded by EU Structural Funds according to the 2014–2020 Operational Programme for the European Union Funds’ Investments priority “Development of scientific competence of researchers, other researchers, students through practical scientific activities” under Measure No. 09.3.3-LMT-K-712. Period of project implementation: 2019-10-15 - 2020-04-30. Dr. Lazauskas was principal investigator in this project. Technological outputs: developed graphene CVD technologies. Bipolar Semiconductors Exhibitting Aggregation-Induced Emission Enhancement for Multi-Colored Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence OLEDs (BLIX4LED). Project funding: KTU Research and Innovation Fund. Period of project implementation: 2020-04-14 - 2020-12-31. Technological output: Efficient organic light-emitting diode materials and high efficiency organic light-emitting diodes were developed. Graphene / Silicon Schottky Contact Based Plasmonic Infrared Sensors (PLASMOGRAF). Project funding: European Space Agency (ESA) Programme for European Cooperating States (PECS). Period of project implementation: 2017-09-04 - 2020-04-30. Technological output: graphene/Si Schottky contact infrared sensor was designed, fabricated and studied.
