BUTNARIU MONICA

Chemistry & Biochemistry
University of Life Sciences "King Mihai I" from Timisoara,

Interests

Studies and applied research: Investigation of heavy metal pollution of soil and plants, the influence of heavy metals on the chemical composition of plants, identification of species for bio monitoring, obtaining/characterization/use of pharmacological effects of active principles, interrelations of plant nutrition/ metabolism. Research Interests: Chemistry and Analytical Biochemistry; Analytical research for quantification of chemical and biological parameters using biomarkers. Mechanisms by which complex mixtures of plant compounds interact to modulate biological activity. Influence of environmental factors on life style Research on natural compounds or active principles of plants; Influence of metabolism on the immune-stimulating activity of medicinal plant constituents. Develop approaches for the chemical characterization of medicinal plants and plant mixtures using different methods. Mechanisms of metals uptake into root and translocation to shoot, accumulation of heavy metals in plants. Knowledge: food quality, safety and functional foods/functional bioproducts, biocompounds in food matrices.
