The Department of Chemical, Biological, and Materials Engineering at USF is the fastest rising chemical engineering and overall engineering department in the United States according to U.S. News and World Report for the past 4 years. The Department of Chemical, Biological, and Materials Engineering at USF currently has 18 full-time faculty, 3 interdisciplinary faculty, and 1 active emeritus faculty. The department offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in chemical engineering and in conjunction with the College of Engineering offers an M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering. In addition to strong collaborations with colleagues from across the College of Engineering, faculty members in the department enjoy strong collaborations with a number of research centers on campus (e.g. the Clean Energy Research Center and the Nanotechnology Research and Education Center). Faculty members in the department also have collaborations with the extensive medical enterprise at USF including the USF Morsani College of Medicine, the National Cancer Institute H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute, the Center for Assistive Rehabilitation Robotics and Technologies, the USF Heart Institute, and the USF Health Byrd Alzheimer’s Institute. The Department of Chemical, Biological, and Materials Engineering at the University of South Florida invites applications for tenure/tenure-track Associate Professor faculty positions, expected to commence August 2021 or thereafter. Exceptional applicants for the rank of Associate Professor must have a strong record of externally funded research, outstanding scholarly work and publications, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and national and/or international recognition for their work. Applications from all areas of chemical engineering and its related fields are welcome. Applicants working in the fields of bioengineering and/or biotechnology, energy and sustainability, catalysis and reaction engineering, computational modeling and simulation, advanced materials, and separations are particularly encouraged to apply.
Significant record of scholarship in a department with undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Chemical Engineering. Experience working in a multicultural and diverse environment. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. A strong record of both external grant funding and scholarship as demonstrated through refereed journal publications.
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Applicants must have conducted prior research work and produced scholarly publications in refereed and other professional journals. Applicants must also meet all university criteria for appointment to the rank of Associate Professor.
PhD in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Have a demonstrated record of high quality research and scholarly publications that is recognized nationally.
